Australian Film in Far North Queensland

CURRENT FILM PRODUCTION
JOHN THE REVELATOR
DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
John the Revelator story was inspired by a true story around the Great Kuranda Train Robbery in 1973, which remains unsolved to this very day.

It is a prominent topic of conversation amongst locals, including train and motorcycle enthusiasts. I have a personal interest with a person/s of interest, still to this very day, regarding the events of this historic heist.

As the screenwriter and director of ‘JOHN THE REVELATOR’ my vision is inspired by the 1974 iconic Australian feature film ‘STONE’ and the subculture of the 'outlaw' bikers of the 70s and their motorcycles. Many of the bikers were returned Vietnam Vets and became outcasts in their very own country they protected.
The story is as much about a vibe, as the subculture that created it and what it meant to be an Australian 'outlaw' biker then; an era almost alien to us in 2024.
Although not a Vet, I was a solo motorcycle rider in the 70s and 80s and an avid bike rider to date. I know what it was like to live and breathe the lifestyle and comradeship of bikers’.

I intend to imbue the movie with the authenticity, and powerful energy, endemic to that period, but to also inject with light humour and romance, even though it is ostensibly an actioned packed drama.

The majestic scenes throughout the film will highlight Northern Queensland’s Tourism Industry and invite curious visitors both nationally and internationally to witness the locations set forth and discover first hand the origin of this great, unsolved train robbery.

Further development will utilise the commercial resources required to launch the film into pre-production and production, which is already receiving favourable discussion amongst the Northern Queensland community. This, in turn, will boost the economy of local businesses who will benefit from the various expenditure required to complete the film.
SET IN FAR NORTH QUEENSLAND
The story is set in the outstanding landscape and rainforest environment of Far North Queensland, which almost becomes a character in its own right, as the story contains many exteriors. Even in the smaller towns of today, streets and architecture remain from that earlier time, and add a natural cinematic feel and reality to the film.

My strategy is to employ the services of local cast and crew where applicable, including local businesses for the various location shoots required, not just for John the Revelator, but for my other feature films which I believe will bring great success to Northern Queensland, and those who are involved.
Success of John the Revelator will permit further film production for my other feature films, using Far North Queensland as the basis location for those movies.
