ABOUT ME
DANIAL DONÁI
Hello, my name is Danial Donái. I’m a writer, film director, second unit director, stunt coordinator and film producer with more than forty years of experience in the global motion picture industry. I have enjoyed many years of success in Hollywood working with some of the world’s biggest stars, including my friend, Arnold Schwarzenegger.
I was born in Brisbane, Australia and started my film career as an action/actor in Sydney in 1984 on the set of Mad Max, ‘Beyond Thunderdome’, starring Mel Gibson and Tina Turner.
After four successful years in the Australian film industry, I made the life and career-changing move to Los Angeles to work as an action/actor while crafting my writing skills. Living in Los Angeles, I continued my upward movie career spiral both in front and behind the camera.
While working on ‘Batman & Robin, Joel Schumacher read my first feature film, an action screenplay titled ‘Indestructible', commending my writing. He then inspired me to retire my career as a stunt action/actor, to write and direct my own work.
Some of my film credits include Die Hard 2, Men in Black, Swordfish, Ultraviolet, Matrix Reloaded, Gone in Sixty Seconds, Eraser, Jingle All The Way and Batman & Robin.
Following my successful career in Hollywood. I returned to my home in Brisbane, Australia, where I naturally transitioned to full-time writing, directing and producing. I have now written over 10 feature film screenplays; three are currently in development and ready for production.
In 2007, I wrote, directed and produced my first 90-minute Australian feature film titled, ‘Like A Bat Outta Hell,’ distributed by TriCoast Worldwide, CA, USA. In 2016, I wrote, directed and produced my 2nd 94-minute Australian feature film titled ‘The Night Flyers’.
Towards the end of 2024, I wrote, directed and produced a 30-minute film short titled ‘Deep Red Water,’ which won Best Short Film at (NYIFF) New York International Film Festival.
In early 2024, I wrote the first draft of ‘John The Revelator,’ which has been in development throughout 2024. This true story is set to go into production in 2026.
